Ortho Evra — A birth control patch that is worn on a woman’s buttocks, lower back or upper arm that releases hormones to prevent pregnancy.  It is 99% effective at preventing pregnancy when used correctly. The patch is worn for a week at a time, for three consecutive weeks, and then replaced with a new one.  The fourth week is "patch free" (during a woman's period).  It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections and must be prescribed by a health care provider.
